I am a Christian person. In Wikipedia, a shaman is defined as a person who practices an old religious technique, but I do not see shamanic practice as a religion. I simply see shamanism just like an energetic technique, an energetic work. These energetic work techniques are much older than religions, and reconnect us with Mother Earth, Sun, Moon, and the Universe. Shamanic work didn't change my religious beliefs. Shamanic work helped me to understand more strongly where our roots are and who we are as human beings.

Wikipedia presents: Mircea Eliade writes, "A first definition of this complex phenomenon, and perhaps the least hazardous, will be: shamanism = 'technique of religious ecstasy'."^[26] Shamanism encompasses the premise that shamans are intermediaries or messengers between the human world and the spirit worlds. Shamans are said to treat ailments and illnesses by mending the soul. Alleviating traumas affecting the soul or spirit is believed to restore the individual's physical body to balance and wholeness. Shamans also say that they enter supernatural realms or dimensions to obtain solutions to problems afflicting the community, or visit other worlds or dimensions to bring guidance to misguided souls and to ameliorate illnesses of the human soul caused by foreign elements. Shamans operate primarily within the spiritual world, which, they believe, in turn affects the human world. The restoration of balance is said to result in the elimination of the ailment.^[26]

Contra-indications:

• Pacemaker – As Crystals emit piezoelectric charges, they could interfere with the rhythm and mechanism of the pacemaker. Crystal therapy is therefore inadvisable.
• Infectious Diseases and Conditions - Clients with infectious diseases or conditions should never be treated as the infection could easily spread. Contact your GP for medical advice.
• Epilepsy – Epilepsy is a complex condition, and deep relaxation or stimulation could induce seizures. My client and I should liaise with their GP to establish if treatment would be advisable. I will also avoid placing crystals near the client’s head due to the piezoelectric charges that crystals emit.
• Diabetes – Diabetic clients should be closely monitored, as blood insulin levels can vary during treatment. If the diabetes has complications, it would be advisable to refer the client to their GP before treatment.
• Severe Circulatory Disorders – I should refer the client to their GP for information on the condition's severity and causes. If it is a stress-related issue, crystal healing may alleviate symptoms and be beneficial, but you should find this information out before treatment.
• Severe High Blood Pressure – Crystal healing may help lower blood pressure; however, if the client has complications with their condition, I should refer them to their GP. The client may have hypotension due to medications they may take associated with their high blood pressure. If so, they should be advised to sit and stand slowly.
• Severe Low Blood Pressure – Clients with low blood pressure should also be advised to sit and stand slowly to prevent them from experiencing dizziness or falling over.
• Cancer and Other Terminal Illnesses – I must always liaise with the client’s medical team before I commence a Crystal healing treatment. The many forms of cancer all have different symptoms and so may require different precautions. I should always avoid placing crystals over areas of radiotherapy or tumor sites.
• Pregnancy – Pregnancy is not an illness; however, treatment is inadvisable during the first trimester of pregnancy. It may be inadvisable during the second trimester if the client has a history of miscarriage or other complications; in such cases, the client’s GP should be consulted.
• Mental Health Conditions – Some mental health conditions, especially severe ones, can affect the balance of the Chakras, so that some are overly energized and some are depleted. Great care and experience are needed when treating these clients. If a client has any moderate to severe mental health condition, I should seek guidance from their GP or healthcare provider.
